Upper Primary Scholarship Exam -Std 5th(PUP)


     After several experts worked on a new format for the state scholarship exam, the revised syllabus and pattern has finally received approval from the state government. Teacher training programmes would begin across the state on the new pattern soon. Confirming the approval, RV Godhane, commissioner, Maharashtra State Council of Examinations (MSCE) said one of the major changes would be instead of a three-paper exam, it would be a two-paper one.

     Every year, more than 15 lakh students appear for the Middle School Scholarship (MSS) and High School Scholarship (HSS) exams in the state which till now were held for classes IV and VII students. However, from the next academic year, it would be held for classes V and VIII to suit the requirements of the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009.

Pre Secondary Scholarship Examination Std 8th (PSS)


      Pre Secondary Scholarship Examination Std 8th (PSS) is a state level scholarship exam conducted by Maharashtra State Council of Education (MSCE) in India to identify students having academic talent at secondary schooling and to encourage deserving students and provide them with financial support. These exams are conducted since the year 1954. These exams are held for students pursuing 7th Standard Class in Secondary or High Schools in Maharashtra. Earlier only few selected students from each school were able to appear for these tests but from the year 2008 any student from a Government recognized school is eligible to appear for the exam. The exams are conducted every year in the month of February or March and over 7 lakh (0.7 million) students appear for this exam. The exam can be given in both English and Marathi mediums.

National Talent Search Exam(NTSE)


National Talent Search Examination(NTSE) is one of the most prestigious national level programs. It's aim is to identify talented individuals and nurture them. This exam is conducted by National Council of Education Research and Training(NCERT) for std. 10th students. The exam is held on two stages namely Stage 1(State/UT level) and Stage 2(National Level). Every year about 50 lakh candidates apply for this program and roughly 1000 candidates are awarded this scholarship.



National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Exam(NMMS)


National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Exam acronym as NMMS Exam is sponsored by Central Government and is conducted by the local educational authority to award (The amount of scholarship is proposed to be Rs.6000 per anum@Rs.500 per month.) 1,00,000 scholarships (from class IX till class XII for a maximum period of four years) to the gifted or meritorious students whose parental income is not more than Rs.1,50,000 per anum for all sources.

Each State/UT shall have fixed quota of scholarship which is decided on the basis of enrolment of students in Class VII and VIII in the State/UT concerned and a population of children of concerned age group of class VII and VIII. The scheme would provide reservation to different categories of students as per the State/UT norms; as different States/UTs have their own norms of reservation.



Arts Elementary & Intermediate Grade Exam


The Elementary and Intermediate Grade Examination was instituted in the year 1980 by the Art Directorate of the Government of Maharashtra. It started with 18 students for the first ever examination, moving onto around 2 lakh students who appear for this examination, every year. These Exams where instituted with the idea of encouraging and dveloping an interest of art education amongst young aspiring individuals.

These examinations are genarally held in the latter half of September every year. and only those candidates who pass the Intermediate Drawing Grade Examination are admitted to the specialized higher courses like Commercial Art, Fine Art and Foundation. While it is not compulsory for other art courses like Fashion Design, Interior Design and Textile, having this additional certificate does give you an edge over others.

Hindi External Exam


This Exam is organised by Maharashtra State Hindi Teachers Association, Pune. Thousands of students appears for this exam throughout whole Maharashtra, to inculcate need and use of Hindi Language.
